Welcome to my website. My name is Brian Hoekstra and I’m honored to share my journey with you. I was born in Hawaii in 1959 and yes, I have an authentic Hawaiian birth certificate. The natives have a saying, “O ku'u 'āina wā kamali'i ... ku'u 'āina le'ale’a” which means “Land of my childhood years ... A place of simple joy.” This aptly describes my memories growing up.

I did, however, have a drug problem as a child. You see, I was drug to church twice a week whether I liked it or not. Despite this privileged upbringing and a commitment to serve God at an early age, I managed to shipwreck my life on a number of occasions due to a series of bad decisions. Thankfully, God in His mercy, drew me back to Himself.

I’ve been blessed with a wonderful wife, Lorraine and two beautiful daughters, Mary and Alice. You can read about them herein. Career wise, I’ve been fortunate to have worked with some of the best engineers and scientists in the world. I’ve also been influenced by some of the world’s leading theologians, pastors and teachers. What I’ve discovered along the way is that all truth is God's truth and that true faith is a rational response of trusting that those spiritual things which remain unseen are indeed trustworthy. Thus, I’ve devoted a portion of this website to exploring and affirming the harmony between theology and science. Feel free to eavesdrop on some of these musings via my weekly podcast and blog as I discuss apologetics with a great group of guys each Thursday morning.
